Heading to Dublin for a girlie weekend break?
There’s so much to do around the city to suit everyone in your group, below is our list of recommendations.
1. Cocktail Making Masterclass
Groups of ten or more can attend a cocktail making masterclass at Dublin’s most famous speakeasy bar, The Blind Pig. Students will learn about the history of cocktails and, of course, create some of their own to drink. The masterclass includes two cocktails and shared food platters for €45 per person. If you would prefer to have a sit-down meal after your class, The Bling Pig will arrange it for you.
2. Get Dancing Together
With dance options such as Burlesque, Line Dancing, Disco and Dirty Dancing, Dancing Hen will provide you and your gals with the most exhilarating afternoon ever. Get ready to partner up, dosey-doe, drop it like it’s hot and everything in between in this private group dance lessons led by professional instructors with years of experience. Learn the moves with your instructor and then recreate them on the nightclub dancefloor later.
3. Have Afternoon Tea – with Gin!
Pop into the Gin Palace bar to enjoy the delight that is Hendrick’s Gin High Tea. Served in an ornate teapot with delicate teacups and matching saucers, the Victorian style bar provides the perfect backdrop for sipping on gin. The bar also boasts one of the city’s largest gin collections and offer sampling platters that are inexpensive and allow you to taste some of the tastiest gins on offer.
4. Attend a Day Spa
Buff Day Spa offers a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city centre with spa treatments lasting from one hour to one day. Their group packages can cater up to 16 people at a time and there is a sauna, tranquillity room and relaxation area to enjoy before and after your treatments. Group treatments include massage, manicure and pedicure, facial (all with a glass of bubbles) but you can request a tailormade package to best suit your needs.
5. Sing your Hearts out at Karaoke
With three private karaoke rooms and over 14,000 songs in their collection, Ukiyo is the top-rated spot for karaoke in Dublin. Each room has space for groups of 20 people. Ukiyo is also a restaurant serving delicious Asian cuisine and to book a karaoke space there at weekends you need to order food as well. Not to worry, their food is amazing!
6. Test your Friendship at an Escape Room
Suitable for groups of up to ten people, Escape Boats Dublin is rated as ‘Ireland’s Top Escape Room’. There are two escape room options: SOS – where you and your team are trapped on a damaged boat that needs repairing, and Convicts – where you and your team have been imprisoned on the dreaded ship Zorg Ella. Both require your group to work together solving puzzles, cracking codes and piecing together mysteries to escape. You’ll need to be patient and work together as a team to escape before it’s too late.
7. Hit the Tiles (or the tables) at a Night Club
If dancing on tables is your thing then you will love Xico Nightclub on Baggot Street. With an underground Mexican party vibe, a full cocktail menu and too many types of tequila on offer, Xico is the perfect place to dance the night away with your friends. The music played varies from 90’s pop anthems to current chart toppers ensuring there’s a song to suit every taste. Expect to see sombreros flying around and get ready to shake your maracas.
8. Dress to Impress at the Races
There’s always an upcoming race meeting at Leopardstown Racecourse and they serve as the perfect excuse to get dolled up, feel glamorous and have some fun. Best dressed competitions take place at The Leopardstown Christmas Festival and The Longines Irish Champions Weekend but don’t be afraid to make an impression at any of their other events. For the full experience, book a private suite for your group.
9. See a Show
The the Bord Gais Energy Theatre is always bursting with world class performances of many theatre favourites as well as live performances from artists around the world. Patrons can enjoy a drink in the theatre lobby before the performance and enjoy the buzzing atmosphere in the surrounding Grand Canal Dock area.
10. Go for Bottomless Brunch
Most brunch spots will limit bottomless drinks to mimosas – but not Bow Lane. For €25 per person (on top of your food) you can enjoy bottomless prosecco, espresso martinis, bloody Mary’s and a range of other cocktails for two hours. Their delicious menu includes dishes such as huevos rancheros, pulled pork and kimchi hash and wild mushrooms on brioche followed by Baileys crème brulee for dessert. Sounds like the brunch of dreams to us!
