Things to do in Bristol this Half Term

    Half-Term Holiday in Bristol

Finding things to do during half-term can be tricky, especially if you are visiting a new city. If you’re heading to Bristol this half term and aren’t sure what to do with your time, we have put together some ideas of fun things to do in and around the city for all the family!

    Bristol Museum and Art Gallery

Explore the diverse collections of history, nature and art housed in one of the most beautiful buildings in Bristol. Exhibitions showcase the last billion years of history while exploring the natural wonders of the region and it is completely free to enter! Enjoy a nice cup of tea and some fresh homemade food in the café before or after you soak up the history.

    Clifton Suspension Bridge

Designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Clifton Suspension Bridge is the most instagrammable place in Bristol and in the top 10 of the most popular places to photograph in the UK. Accessible by bike, car or foot, the bridge is set to the backdrop of the Avon Gorge and it is an iconic Bristolian landmark. Just a short walk from the bridge is Clifton Village with an eclectic mix of little cafes, shops and stunning architecture, it’s the perfect place to spend the day exploring.

    Aerospace Bristol

Telling the story of Bristol’s world class aerospace industry, there is plenty to discover from the earliest days of powered flights to today’s top flight technology. The highlight has to be stepping onto the iconic Concorde, the world’s fastest passenger jet. Take a walk through and see what it would have been like to be a passenger, travelling in style. You can find Aerospace Bristol located just off the M5 and has free parking for all visitors. Visit the website to book your tickets in advance and find out what’s on during half term.

    Brunel’s SS Great Britain

Take a step back in time and hop aboard Brunel’s SS Great Britain. Enjoy a day exploring the historic dockyard, dry dock and two interactive museums. Discover what it was like to be a member of SS Great Britain’s crew and Go Aloft! Climbing 25 meters above ground level. Visit their website for up-to-date information about what’s on.

    Leigh Woods

The perfect place for a family day out with plenty to explore. Located just outside the city centre, you can travel by car or Leigh Wood can be reached following the River Avon Trail, following the river up to Clifton Suspension Bridge.

    Ashton Court Estate

Just the other side of Clifton Suspension Bridge is the huge Ashton Court Estate. With the gorgeous Manor House, 850 acres of woods and gardens, Deer Park and café’s to enjoy local cakes, sandwiches and treats and with indoor and outdoor seating, they’re perfect all year round.

    Brandon Hill and Cabot Tower

For anyone who doesn’t mind a bit of a hilly walk, past Park Street, is the oldest park in Bristol, Brandon Hill Nature Park. There is a play park, conservation area and lovely winding paths with incredible views of the city below. If you want to get the best view it has to be at the top of Cabot Tower. Standing at 105 feet high and dating back to 1897, the tower probably has one of the best views of the Harbourside and Bristol.

    Bristol Harbourside

If you don’t want to venture too far from the city centre, a walk around the Harbourside is the perfect afternoon treat. Spot some of the iconic coloured houses, enjoy a spot of lunch in the converted shipping containers of Wapping Wharf or even enjoy a spot of paddle boarding.
